Grant Writer

Purpose of Position
The Grant Writer is responsible to the Executive Director and will assist
with the writing and production of proposals for funding for ACGA's
programs.  This is a temporary three to six month, part-time position,
starting January 2007.  Working from any US or Canadian location.

Key Responsibility Areas
. Write writing grant applications based on a grants calendar submitted by
the Executive Director and the Board that utilizes existing research
. Compile and edit draft applications for accuracy, completeness and clarity
and submittal of all applications in accordance with grant requirements 
. Review the budget for which funding is sought and make recommendations to
better present it to grant-making organizations
. Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making
organization's preferences and follow exactly each grant-making
organization's guidelines.

The grant writer will seek assistance from and work with the Development
Committee of the Board.  Grant writing requires exceptional written and
verbal communications skills, organizational skills, and computer
proficiency.  Knowledge of community gardening preferred.  The ability to
work independently and to meet deadlines expected.
