[Community_garden] urban garden contaminants

In a book I am currently reading.Lives Per Gallon by Terry Tamminen.the
issue of contaminated urban raised produce is brought to light. The
contaminants in question are those produced/released by the burning of
fossil fuels, i.e. auto/truck emissions. Does anyone have any research based
information that shows there to be higher levels of these types of
contaminants in urban grown produce?
