[Community_garden] Open House Advice Needed

Hello,

We are planning an "Open House" celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony for our small, new community garden in the northwest corner of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  We are looking for suggestions for this making this celebration fun and successful.  Our plans include the ceremonial ribbon cutting, serving ice cream, kids' games, volunteer and donor recognition, and a garden tour.  

We would like to give our volunteers a special gift, but we don't have any extra money for t-shirts or other items besides a simple thank you.

Do you have special or unique ideas for celebrations such as this and for volunteer recognition?
