Southside Community Land Trust provides access to land, education, and other
resources so people in Greater Providence can grow food in environmentally
sustainable ways and create community food systems where locally produced,

Development Director
Southside Community Land Trust

The Development Director has primary responsibility for implementing and
managing a multi-faceted development program that includes soliciting
individual donors, overseeing fundraising events, and recruiting corporate
sponsors.

The Development Director is responsible for all major gifts, in-kind
donations, stock gifts, membership drives, annual appeals, and sponsorships.

The Development Director will also:
• Establish and coordinate a planned giving program
• Establish and coordinate an endowment campaign.
• Oversee the Outreach Coordinator's production and distribution of all SCLT
publications.
• Coordinate stewardship of donors, including face-to-face solicitations.
• Serve as primary staff liaison to Development and Endowment committees.
Manage the work of these committees, including: setting the meeting
schedule; creating agendas with the Chairs and Executive Director; and
follow-up with both staff and committee members on assigned tasks.
• Oversee systems for tracking and acknowledging donors and gifts
• Integrate public relations as a component of development efforts

A successful applicant will have the following qualifications:
• 2-5 years fundraising experience.
• Success in securing major gifts, managing an endowment, and operating a
planned giving program.
• Able to make a 3-5 year commitment.
• Creativity, drive, and a passion for helping people grow food.
• Comfort with face-to-face fundraising.
• Able to act as a spokesperson for SCLT in all settings and with many
audiences
• Comfort working in a team-oriented environment and sharing an office
• Comfort working with diverse populations including immigrants of various
backgrounds, residents in low-income neighborhoods, major gifts donors,
business owners, both youth and senior citizens, elected officials, staff in
other non-profits, and SCLT staff and board members;
• Ability to work well: independently and in committee, creatively within a
restricted budget, and multi-task;
