[Community_garden] 2007 Community Greening Award -- We Won!

Hi, Folks!



Just received a letter from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Keep
Pennsylvania Beautiful saying that they are "pleased to present the 2007
Community Greening Award to St. John's Organic Community Garden.  Our
evaluators have visited over 57 nominated sites and have recommended St.
John's Organic Community Garden for this award."

 

This is the THIRD award in THREE YEARS that St. John's United Church of
Christ Organic Community Garden and Labyrinth has won!  Here is our award
tally:

 

*	Phoenixville Area Violence Prevention Network "Peacemaker Award,"
August 2005

 

*	Phoenixville Area Chamber of Commerce "Community Betterment Award,"
June 2006

 

*	Pennsylvania Horticultural Society/Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful
"Community Greening Award," August 2007

 

 

The award ceremony for the 2007 Community Greening Award is on Sunday,
November 11 at 2 pm at PHS headquarters at 100 North 20th Street in
Philadelphia. It's a large auditorium, so anyone who would like to attend is
welcome and encouraged to join us!  Just e-mail either myself or the Pastor,
the Rev. Linda Gruber <gruber at stjohnsucc.com> by November 2nd.  If we have
enough people, we'll probably take the church van, so let us know if you
would like to carpool to PHS.

 

Thanks to all of our gardeners who worked, worked, worked through August to
make the garden and labyrinth look fantastic for the judges.  All of their
hard work paid off!  Stop by on Tuesday nights with the Perennial Garden
Volunteers from 5:30 pm to dark to admire and congratulate the gardeners on
their work for the community!
