Greetings,
I am on the Site Management Committee of Friends of Troy Gardens in Madison,
WI. Troy Gardens is a 31 acre site of mixed use community gardens, natural
areas/restored prairie, organic CSA farm and affordable housing modeled on
cohousing. Our land is owned by the Madison Area Community Land Trust.
As part of the lease agreement, we must create and adhere to a standard of
"best practices" for our management of the land, including the community
gardens, water system, pathways, mowed areas, composting, natural areas and
CSA farm. Truthfully, I'm not quite sure what such a written document would
look like. In hopes of not reinventing the wheel, I'm wondering if other
gardens (or natural area/open spaces) have "best practices" and if it might
be possible to get copies of existing policies.
Have you any ideas about these kinds of policies and/or who I might contact
for more information?
I appreciate your time and thoughts.
Best regards,
Martha Worcester
