Dr. Morgan will present a lecture on “The Power of the Public Plate”
Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 7:30 at Queen’s University in Kingston
Hall, Room 201.
Dr. Kevin Morgan, one of the leading thinkers in economic geography,
is recognized as an international expert in innovation and regional
development, sustainable agri-food chains, and the regeneration and
self-management of communities. His combined excellence in academic
research and community-based consulting make him a much sought after
adviser on matters of governance, regional development and food
systems. Dr. Morgan’s recent publications include the book Worlds of
Food: Place, Power and Provenance in the Food Chain (Oxford
University Press, 2006), as well as articles on food, sustainability
and regional development in European Planning Studies, Journal of
Economic Geography and Regional Studies. Dr. Morgan has served as an
adviser to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the OECD, the
Danish Technology Institute, Education and Learning Wales, SPRI (the
regional development agency of the Basque Country), the National
Assembly for Wales, Turin Chamber of Commerce, the Welsh Development
Agency and the US Office of Technology Assessment.
