Greenhouse and Marketing Manager
 
Shepherd’s Corner at Dominican Acres, a supported ministry of the Dominican Sisters St. Mary of the Springs, is seeking a part-time Manager to supervise organic vegetable and flower propagation for 3-acres of gardens and various landscape features, and the coordination of direct marketing and wholesale distribution operations. The Manager will assist with training of seasonal staff and volunteers, and participate in the presentation of educational programs. Hours will vary seasonally.
 
Shepherd’s Corner at Dominican Acres is an ecological ministry dedicated to earth education, awareness, and responsibility in Blacklick, Ohio. The garden production concentrates on feeding the hungry and sustainable agriculture education. Located on 160-acres surrounded by rapid residential development, the Corner boasts a diversity of habitats including field, forest and wetland. The Corner also hosts a variety of farm animals, honeybees, a labyrinth, and various buildings providing office, production and program space.
 
Greenhouse responsibilities include organization of equipment and supplies, implementation of sowing schedule to achieve production goals, organically approved pest and disease control, and assisting with transplanting and direct seeding. 
Marketing responsibilities include coordination of post-harvest processing, supervision of direct marketing and distribution operations, and production of support and public relations materials.
 Administrative responsibilities include recordkeeping and documentation required for organic certification, project budget and reports, training and direction of staff and volunteers, grant service and evaluation, and participation in educational program presentations.  Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications include high school diploma, vocational horticultural training or equivalent, minimum two years production greenhouse experience, knowledge of direct marketing and food distribution, and experience with organic/BioDynamic management techniques. Also desirable is knowledge of farm implements and mechanized equipment, and experience in environmental education.
