Hi, everyone,

Request for help -

I'm giving a presentation on community gardening to a
meeting organized by the health dept here on Tuesday,
and the number attending just keeps getting bigger and
more diverse in terms of agencies. Evidently,
suddenly, there's lots of interest in community
gardening here. So...

Anyone got a few pics they can share of community
gardens in their city or town? Even 1 or 2
characteristic shots would help, as JPEGs that will
work for Powerpoint. Charlotte decision makers are
greatly interested in and influenced by what happens
in other places.

Cordalie, I'd very much appreciate a copy of your
Powerpoint on CT.

Also, got any pithy quotes, interesting statistics
(how many gardens, how many acres, how many gardeners
in your town) and/or suggestions on what to cover (or
avoid) in about 1/2 hr - 45 min?

Mostly, people here don't really know much about
community gardens, though there are some persistent
negative attitudes sometimes forcefully expressed (ie
"cgs are for 'those people' and we don't really want
them in 'good' neighborhoods - and aren't they are
sort-of '60s hippie/commie projects?" Also, either
'They are easy to set up, don't cost anything' OR 'Not
a wise use of tax dollars.')

All advice and help accepted, and I'll share my show
with the list.
