[Community_garden] Regionally specific seeds

I'm noticing that many of the seed companies mentioned seem to be in the New
England states. It makes me wonder if it is important to shop for regionally
specific seed types? Will tomato varities bred and developed in Iowa be
better in my homestate of Minnesota than seeds from the west or east coasts?
Or should I search for seed companies that grow in the same soil types that
we have?

Anyone have any wisdom on that? thanks,
