Oh to wear shorts, any time this winter, might be a nice change.
We here on the Alaskan Peninsula, the strip of land that leads down to the Aleutian Islands, are having our second coldest winter on record.
Subzero temps for months, VERY unusual even in AK, and no real let up in the foreseeable future.
Our chores for gardening are at a stand still although dreaming of a bigger greenhouse for starting seedlings and wintering over some fruit trees are running amuck.
Planning seed beds, improvements for the coming spring and summer, splitting up chores for a work party day are all items we are doing during this 'down time'.
Even in our small village we are also facing the need for working the halls of regional power to keep our space and right to garden as a community.
Enjoy your touch of spring as we all know Mother Nature can change on the drop of a hat and send you some of our crazy snow and bone freezing temps.
