Hi!
I work for a community garden in a town of 10,000 in rural northern Nevada. Last year we started a Farmer's Market and had four very successful market days. Since last year was a trial to see how well it would be supported in the community, we didn't think too much about organization logistics. One man bought produce from a farmer about two hours away (local by Nevada standards) and volunteers from the community garden resold the produce. Some small-time farmers and gardeners from town also donated produce to sell into the mix. All profits (about $1000 total) were divided between the Community Garden and the local food bank. This year we're hoping to diversify a little bit and encourage other farmers to actually come and sell their produce themselves.

I'm interested to hear how other community gardens have gone about walking the line of liability. Also, who organizes your markets? Are they distinct from the community garden?

We are very excited about this but unsure of how to work out the details.

Thank you!
Susan Powell
