  You and your gardeners are safe under those "power" lines.  Supposedly the
myth was started in England years ago and the claim was people
living/working under "power" lines were contracting certain forms of cancer
at a much higher rate than general population.  That was not case, did not
happen.  you can google for more info. and definitive studies if you like to
ascertain the veracity.    

   Later study on this showed that the rate of all forms of cancers actually
were lower than those who did not live under power lines.
