Project for Public Spaces Announces Winners of Grants to Diversify
Farmers Markets in Ten U.S. Cities and Towns

Ten farmers markets across the United States will grow and diversify
their operations, while broadening the social, cultural, and economic
impacts on the communities they serve and becoming better community
gathering places.  They are the recipients of ten grants, totaling
$417,742, which were recently awarded by Project for Public Spaces
(PPS). 

 

Funding for these grants is provided by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
The grants are part of a three-year, $3 million grant-making program,
which began in 2005 and is also funded by The Ford Foundation. 

 

The 2007 grantees are as follows:

*	City of Takoma Park, Takoma Park Farmers Market, MD

*	United Community Centers, East New York Farmers Market,
Brooklyn, NY
*	ACEnet, Athens Farmers Market, OH 
*	Lucas County Improvement Corporation, Toledo Farmers Market, OH
*	William Byrd Community House, Richmond, VA 
*	Fondy Food Center, Fondy Farmers Market, Milwaukee, WI
