[Community_garden] Yahoo to shut down photo-sharing service

Yahoo Photos is closing

  If you've been uploading birthday- or holiday-party pictures on  
Yahoo's photo-sharing service for the past few years, only days remain  
before all those photos are deleted by the company.

  After several years of service, Yahoo! is officially closing its Yahoo  
Photos site on Thursday. The company decided to focus its efforts on  
its award-winning photo-sharing community Flickr.
Although the company is leaving users of the service little time to  
take action, Yahoo! recognized the difficulty of moving photos and has  
offered users several options.

  With a couple of clicks, users can transfer photos to other  
photo-sharing services such as Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly,  
Snapfish or Photobucket.

  Users also can save photos to their hard drives or purchase archive  
CDs to download photos, saving them on disks. Those who choose Flickr  
still can use their Yahoo ID to log in.

  Decisions need to be made by Thursday before the 9 p.m. (Arizona time)  
deadline, after which any photos remaining on Yahoo Photos will be  
deleted and no longer will be accessible.
