[Community_garden] Assistance: School Meal Programs Around the World

In the US and by region, state, and municipality, school meal programs range
in scope. For example, school meal programs often start because the
government defines a school as having a high percentage of students whose
family are 150% of poverty or greater. Depending upon the school district
and the school's capabilities, this may mean breakfasts, lunches, and
snacks. The Food Banks (Second Harvest) around the US often supplement what
a school does by offering after school snacks and dinners. I ran such a
program in Kalamazoo's Eastside Neighborhood for three years. Other members
of this list serv offer other Kids Cafe programs in their neighborhoods and
conjoin it with a garden project. Maybe they will tell you about their
programs too.

For information about Second Harvest and the Kids Cafe program, see:

To see who is also doing Kids Cafe programs in Southwest Michigan, see:

Les amis,

Can anyone kindly point me to good information on people or web sites
on school meal programs for Canada, the US, UK and EU and Australia,
Brazil and maybe even Cuba? Your expert aid would be greatly
appreciated (tight deadline)!
