Background: What is the Food Security Learning Center? The goal of the Food Security Learning Center (FSLC) is to provide tools to build a food secure world that is sustainable and healthy for all people, communities, and the environment. We are concerned with the health and livelihood of the farmers, the field workers, the processors, and all of us – everyone who eats. The FSLC's major focus is food system change – from the local to the global. We support strong, sustainable, local and regional food systems that ensure access to affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food for all people at all times. Through comprehensive topics, searchable databases, news, alerts, and other special features, the FSLC provides ways to get informed and involved in food system change. From getting local food into school meals to promoting farmers’ markets in food insecure communities, the FSLC offers blueprints and examples of models that work.
