Hi All, I did not receive the last two postings, not in my back garden and forewarned.
I am working to establish a community garden on Hydro Right of Way at the Bishop Grandin Boulevard, which also serves as a bike corridor and environmental habitat. In our city Hydro Right of Ways provide a lot of recreational space and lots of gardens. So I thought this line interesting.... Karen

Hey all,
We have high tension powerlines running through the middle of our community. Until now the power company has refused any use of the land citing insurance. I know this is a front for there are a large number of other activities and buildings under the powerlines in other locations in our county. We are currently documenting these uses.
Additionally, I recently read that the EPA recommends the use of this type of land in the US. I am working this angle as well.
Now I am seeking to find others that have community gardens located under high tension powerlines. Please let me know what was involved in setting up your gardens under the powerlines.
Thanks in advance for your time and assistance with this.

Many people are concerned about the effects of being under those things; and
you'd also have to consider the huge amount of herbicides they've probably
used over the years to keep the right of way clear....

" You must identify your supporters and capitalize on them. You also must identify your adversaries and their specific complaints so that you can address them."
While knowing that these vary from area to area, knowing what organizations support and oppose community gardens in other areas, would allow others to be a bit preemptive on their approach. Would you care to share?
