let all be fine and well,
oh my goddess! you asked the right question!

first off I will start with the esoteric, because there is an amazing
indian community gardener that everyone should know about named Dr. TC
Singh. he was beyond genius, but accessible to todays thinking. I am
obviously talking about Peter Thompkins and Christopher Bird's "Secret
Life of Plants", there is interesting information in "Secret Life of
Soil".

I am interning with Heather Flores. She is the author of a wonderful
book entitled "Food not Lawns". This book breaches the gap between
community and personal gardening by combining efforts. In it she talks
about gardening with community (including children) and discusses a
wide variety of ways to make use of resources (including recycling)
and ideas. she is currently starting a community effort education
center/residence. Many of the concepts also have ancient sources, and
have been practiced traditionally, some have been through trial and
error in creating the spin-off group "food not lawns" (from food not
bombs, which is a social justice organization in over 215 countries
worldwide). food not lawns is now also becoming an international
organization. she includes Bill Mollisen's concept of permaculture,
and is a contemporary with Peter Hemmenway (Gaia's garden), and has
written a new book called "How to Turn Your Yard into a Garden and
Your Neighborhood into a Community", with a foreward by Toby
Hemmenway.

these are great books, and you will find that if you read them you
will have enough references to fill a library. the topics covered are
too many to list. needless to say I am immersed.

enjoy great peace, love and harmony
danny
