Dear All,

Please consider sending something to Bill Moyers in hopes he will help us
win a place for organic, urban, and schoolyard agriculture and gardening on
the 2008 Platforms.

Mr. Moyers--

Considering the magnitude of the crisis in food production and distribution,
with its consequent and exponentially-increasing epidemic of hunger and
starvation, it's very distressing to me that the relevant interwoven issues
are being almost totally ignored in the current presidential primary season,
and will likely stay well below the radar during the general election.

There are so many aspects to this catastrophe-in-the-making that I strongly
feel it merits exposure on your indispensable PBS program, which many of us
count on to counteract the abysmal 'reportage' typical of
corporate-controlled media. The ethanol boondoggle, which, as I'm sure
you're well aware, takes food off dinner plates, and puts into gas tanks, is
only 'the tip of the iceberg.'

I could go on at great length, but in the interest of brevity will say that
I'm a backyard gardener of thirty years experience, which led me to an
involvement with a terrific organization, 'Growing Power,' which has become
a world-wide model for urban agriculture, a necessity as prime farmland has
been gobbled up by suburban development. I'm also a songwriter, and will
attach the lyric to a song written to publicize this most impressive outfit
(praised by Grace Lee Boggs on your show a while back, as I recall).

I'll sign off with Growing Power's website, where you'll find much relevant
information, along with a link on the homepage to a performance of the
'Growing Power' song:

THANKS for your urgent consideration of this crucial matter...
staying tuned, Harvey Taylor
