Two organizations that might be of assistance to you. I don't know where
in South Carolina you are, but both are probably available through the
Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service.

 

One is the Master Gardener Program. Go to

by county...

 

The other is the 4H program. They may have interest in developing a club
around the project. Go to http://www.clemson.edu/4h/ for more info.
