Summer Program Director
 
Primary responsibilities
The Summer Program Director has primary responsibility for planning, organizing, staff selection, and training for a comprehensive eight-week Harvesting the Imagination Summer Program. The manager is responsible for all program operations, including curriculum, staff supervision and evaluation, and risk management. The manager will lead and inspire staff to ensure a high quality experience for children, parents and staff.
 
Terms and Salary
This is an exempt seasonal position. Part-time planning begins in April, becomes full time in June and ends August 31, 2008. Salary is dependent on starting date.
 
Reports to: Farm in the City Executive Director
 
Location
Midway area of St. Paul, Minnesota
 
Specific Responsibilities

Oversee all summer program activities with the goal of creating a safe and exciting program for children 
Develop, document and oversee delivery of curriculum 
Oversee purchase of food, equipment and supplies required to implement curriculum 
Recruit, hire, train supervise and evaluate staff, independent contractors, and volunteers 
Schedule staff training, work hours, activity assignments and team-building activities 
Oversee administrative systems, including registration and enrollment, database management and reporting 
Oversee collection of data to track program impact 
 Develop safety regulations and emergency procedures 
Develop operations manual that can be used by program staff in the following season
Requirements

Minimum three years experience managing a youth program. Special consideration given to person with training in youth development 
Commitment to social justice and youth development, and an interest in gardening, art, health and nutrition 
High awareness of risk factors and mitigation techniques in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments 
Strong management skills, including ability to assign tasks to employees and volunteers in a clear and thorough manner 
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
