[Community_garden] Gardens owned & operated by privatecompanies?

The above article mentions employee gardens by two businesses. Most of the
web hits that I found were of a historical nature...the depression, and
times when certain communities were "company towns". Depending on your
location, one angle would be to approach this as a rooftop, energy saving,
"green" garden. There are many angles of approach, but the rooftop garden
idea is gaining traction.

Herman Miller, which has a reputation for being a forward-looking
company here in West Michigan (and in many ways actually is), just put
in a permaculture garden at its Zeeland "Design Yard." Although the
employees are the primary gardeners, the produce will be given to
pantries in the area. I do agree that this is probably not the
optimum, but I hope they will continue to progress and invite other
passionate gardeners, especially permaculturists, to participate.
