Dear All,

Our movement will flower if we make rhizome connections with our soil
partners of all shapes and sizes, and develop mechanisms to spread wider and
deeper, bringing nutrients and necessities to the good cause.

There is an article in today's NYT regarding Obama's campaign bringing on
one of the young internet wizzards of Facebook for internet organizing.

(e-mail me if you can't access)

Here is some key info from that article:

The centerpiece of it all is My.BarackObama.com <http://my.barackobama.com/>,
where supporters can join local groups, create events, sign up for updates
and set up personal fund-raising pages. "If we did not have online
organizing tools, it would be much harder to be where we are now," Mr.
Hughes said.

Mr. Obama, now the presumptive Democratic nominee, credits the Internet's
social networking tools with a "big part" of his primary season success.
"One of my fundamental beliefs from my days as a community organizer is that
real change comes from the bottom up," Mr. Obama said in a statement. "And
there's no more powerful tool for grass-roots organizing than the Internet."

I am trying to set up an interest group at the my.barackobama.com site
called "Urban Agrarians," in hopes of connecting with other Obama interest
groups and invite them to learn about the advance the cause of urban
agriculture, and, in my optimistic scenario, providing evidence that the
food security movement will become a political force to be reckoned with.
If anyone would like to chip in on this project, please send an e-mail to
connections at milwaukeerenaissanace.com.

Viva, urban agrarians!
