Dear CSA Members, Friends, Colleagues, and Supporters of the Minnesota Food Association,
The staff, Board and farmers of the Minnesota Food Association invite you to our Summer Family Fest on Saturday, August 9, from noon – 4 pm.
We are into the thick and heat of the summer growing season and we would love to have you, your friends and family come out to see what is happening and learn more! Our new field fence and the beginnings of our new irrigation system are now in place. The fields are growing away! Deliveries to shareholders have been going since the end of June. And, we have been through our first organic certification audit – and we are now certified! The farmers in our program will now become the first organic certified immigrant farmers in Minnesota.
Please come and see what this all means! You’ll have the opportunity to….
§ Walk the fields to the farmers’ plots
§ Enjoy a discussion, under the trees, about local foods access and sustainability
§ Learn about our new projects, our program, and the exciting developments on Big River Farms
§ See our free-range chickens and guinea fowl, goats and sheep
§ Take a hayride with your family
§ Enjoy a potluck lunch (please bring something to share, if you can)
§ Participate in games for the kids
§ Enjoy a local children’s music presentation by Barb Tilsen
§ Enter our raffle drawings for the chance to win some fabulous food-related prizes every hour
This is an opportunity for our Minnesota Food Association community to grow and become more informed, involved and vibrant. It will be an engaging and relaxing atmosphere for everyone!
We are requesting a suggested donation of $10 per vehicle. Donations are also very welcome!
Please come out and enjoy an afternoon with us! We will carry on rain or shine (our big barn provides shelter), but please watch the weather and bring an extra something just in case we get a thunderstorm. We are located just off Norell Avenue (north, off Hwy 7, Square Lake Rd.) in the Wilder Forest. For information or directions, please check our website or call us.
Thank you for your continued support of local, sustainable, organically-grown food! We look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Glen Hill
