Well....
Yield isn't everything.
For instance, if you have a rat problem in the area, letting your
tomatoes lie on the ground would probably  result in every single one of
them having a nice bite taken out of it.

Assuming the UM study is correct, why do we have a mindset that rejects
what is better?
