[Community_garden] alternative watering systems

Hey there everyone, my town is seriously considering our community garden plan but wants a different approach to watering. I've thought about catchment systems for the rain water, but I'm wondering if there is another method of watering that would be more environmentally effective and good for our garden????any ideas would be awesome:) :)
